TGC Crew: Geoff "Gully" Gulevich Bike Check

Freeride mountain bike rider Geoff "Gully" Gulevich has placed at both the Red Bull Rampage and Crankworx and is well known for his prowess on the bike. It seems like he's always off on some epic riding trip, doing photo and movie shoots all over the world, so when we caught up with him this year at Crankworx in Whistler, we wanted to take a look at his bike to see how he sets it up to ride in all these amazing spots.

With support from both Spank and iXS, he's running a full complement of the TGC product lines. His other sponsors included Focus Bikes, Shimano, Goodyear, and Marzocchi.

His primary bike is the Focus SAM 9.9 with Marzocchi suspension including a coil rear shock. The Focus SAM is an enduro class chassis designed for a 170mm travel fork and features 170mm of rear travel.

Gully runs a Z1 with 180mm of travel that provides a bit more big hit capacity, making it suitable for anything from double black diamond trails to DH runs to bike park. This is the bike Gully takes with him all over the world.

Running a full Spank Cockpit, the Spike 35 Vibrocore handlebar, Split 35 Stem, and Spike 33 grips handle duties up front. He runs the bars uncut at full length as he has "long gangly arms". The stem is a 40mm long Split stem in the 35mm version.

A full Shimano 11 speed XT drive train is bolted on. Brakes are Shimano Saint with their four-piston calipers for maximum braking power, with a 203mm rotor up front and a 180mm rear.

For wheels, he's running our Spank 359 wheels with Vibcocore. Rubber is provided by Goodyear, andGully runs a Newton 2.3 in the rear with a Newton ST 2.6 in the front. Tires are usually set in the 30psi range.

Gully on Vibrocore:

"I'm beyond stoked on the Vibrocore system as a whole. I absolutely feel the difference from the original bars to the new and improved bars with the Vibrocore technology. The vibration damping has made technical terrain more enjoyable over longer rides. I love these bars!"

For all-day adventures, his helmet of choice is the new iXS Trigger FF. The light weight and ventilation is ideal for big days on the bike. For knee pads he generally runs the iXS Flows. iXS Carve Knee Guards are also heavy in his rotation, as is the Trigger pads, depending on where he's riding and how rowdy he's feeling.
